These birds have lived with their fellow pet cat for over a eleven years so are not in any particular danger while singing. This singing, to a potential predator, initially would seem to hurt their chances of survival but clearly the domesticated cat has either not learned to hunt successfully or has learned to suppress that behavior.

From Outsider Japan Japanese Macaques first began utilizing the hot springs in 1963. It is said that one female ventured into the pools to retrieve some soybeans that had been tossed in, and was quite pleased by the warmth. Others were soon to follow, the younger ones first.
