http://vimeo.com/31158841. The embed code is not currently working so you will have to go the extra step and go to the site address and watch the two minutes of guaranteed Spectacular birds. Go to the site from Islands and Rivers and watch murmurations. Full screen it for best effect- better than any CGI effects ever. I will add the video later when I get the link to embed properly.
1. Why do the Spectacular starlings do this? 2. How are they able to do this without crashing into each other? 3. Why is it called a murmuration? 4. Can you think of any other animals that are famous for their swarming type behavior- what dictates this type of behavior for the examples you have chosen? Now that you are on a different kind of a bell schedule ( or none at all for the lucky ones), you have a little more free time to read up on science related stuff. SUMMER ASSIGNMENT will be posted on the General Documents page for HL- that is YOU!!!!!. Yes, you are now HL Bio people and no I still won't be able to get your names straight after the break. Somethings change and somethings remain the same.
As usual, I will post things that will have the potential to change your point of view, change some of your synapses or even potentially change your grade point. Yes, I am talking about thought provoking learning that could earn you extra credit for the Fall semester. So rest up, work on getting that extra Vitamin D, keep checking back in periodically and don't forget, SL or HL blog items over the break are fair game for extra credit. REQUIRED work will be posted to the HL general documents page so check there too. I will periodically check [email protected] if you absolutely have to have a question answered. .... you know who you are. See you after the break, Ms K |
